Overstock “First Apartment” Concept
-
Overstock wanted creative concepts to support their Smart Value campaign, which was designed to reinforce the idea that customers don’t have to choose between style, quality, or price. The goal was to create a relatable, entertaining spot that dramatized the compromises people often face in real life — and show how Overstock eliminates that tension.

Created and pitched the concept “First Apartment”
Wrote the full script, blending humor with a clear brand message

The spot was written as a comedic mini-story. Two young roommates tour their first apartment and are forced by the landlord to choose between new carpet or blinds — a no-win situation. The story dramatizes everyday compromises with wit and relatability. The payoff comes when the VO reframes the narrative: “With Overstock, you don’t have to compromise. At Overstock you can have it all — the style you love, at a price that makes sense.”
Storyboards and script presentation showed how the creative could flex for digital, streaming, or broadcast placements while reinforcing Overstock’s brand positioning.

Although never produced, First Apartment stands as a showcase of higher-level brand storytelling and campaign ideation. It demonstrates how I concept and script spots that use humor and relatability to land a strong brand promise.
